CORDERO Y-DNA

Four descendants of Mariano Cordero and Juana Pinto from two different sons--Miguel and Juan de Jesus--have tested their Y-DNA with different results. Apparently, Juana Pinto had at least one child by another man while married to Mariano Cordero.

The paternal ancestry of Miguel Cordero (b. 1795) and his descendants is Q-M902, which is an Amerindian haplogroup.

The paternal ancestry of Juan de Jesus (b. 1800) and his descendants is R1b2a, which is European.

So is Mariano Cordero's paternal ancestry Indian or European? Based on other records I would make the educated guess that Mariano was European and that Miguel was the illegitimate son of a man who had a paternal ancestor who was Amerindian; however, in order to be certain we need to test the Y-DNA of a third branch of the family.

VOLUNTEER NEEDED
We would like a direct male descendant of either Pedro or Matias Cordero to volunteer to have their Y-DNA tested. The volunteer has to be male and has to be a direct male descendant (your last name must be Cordero and none of your male Cordero ancestors can be adopted).
